MDE-GAD Comorbidity Network

This model simulates the joint evolution of Major Depressive Episode (MDE) and Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) using a network model. The aim of the model is to explain the high levels of comorbidity between MDE and GAD.

Modeling frameworks
Network Models

Models that represent systems as networks of interconnected nodes.

More details
How does the model work

The model is based on the assumption that symptoms featured in the same disorder are connected in a network. Because MDE and GAD share symptoms, this means their networks are connected via these "bridge symptoms". The model uses a dataset from the National Comorbidity Survey to estimate parameters for the network and then simulates the course of the system using the idea that connected nodes can activate each other.
